Kendrick Lamar Talks TPAB and Forgiving His Critics on Hot 97

After the announcement that Kendrick Lamar was this year’s headliner for Summer Jam, the Compton MC spoke with Hot 97 about the upcoming concert, his new album, and much more. On his album, To Pimp a Butterfly, Kendrick dished out a number of details such as hitting the studio for hours at a time to write his songs while listening to the live instrumental sessions. He also revealed that he wrote the lyrics to his song “Mortal Man” while he was on tour with Kanye West. As for the “King Kunta” video, which Kendrick shot last week, he said the idea was all about having fun and bringing the cameras back to his hood. The full interview can be viewed below.
