A 15-year-old girl was pepper-sprayed and allegedly sexually assaulted outside a Donald Trump rally in Wisconsin on Tuesday, according to local police. “A male in the crowd groped the 15-year-old girl; when she pushed him away, another person in the [crowd] sprayed her,” the Janesville Police Department said in a statement. Authorities are currently searching for multiple suspects.
The teen, who has not been named, was reportedly protesting outside the event when an older man “touched [her] chest,” CBS News reports. Less than a minute after allegedly being groped, the teen is then pepper-sprayed at close range by someone police have confirmed was not affiliated with law enforcement in any capacity.
Of course, disturbing instances of violence against protesters at Trump rallies is nothing new for the leading Republican candidate. Corey Lewandowski, Trump’s campaign manager, was charged with simple battery on Tuesday following an incident earlier this month involving a Breitbart reporter. “My story never changed,” Michelle Fields tweeted in response to Trump’s suggestion that she changed her story once learning the encounter was filmed. “Seriously, just stop lying.”
Trump, as he revealed during CNN’s town hall event later that evening, plans to stand by Lewandowski. “It would be so easy for me to terminate this man, ruin his life, ruin his family,” Trump told Anderson Cooper on Tuesday. “I have fired many people, especially on The Apprentice.” After actually saying that out loud, Trump confirmed that he had no intentions of dumping Lewandowski.
